We  Come  to  YOU

We  Work  with  You  and  your  DOG  In  YOUR  Home

Why?

Problems are most observable and most solvable in the DOG's home environment

We use the "Pack-Leader" Method of Behavior Modification*

Human:

  • "Pack - Leader"
  • "Calm - Assertive"

DOG:

  • "Pack - Follower"
  • "Calm - Submissive"

A  DOG should be willing to do anything the Human asks it to do.*

This has to be based on the DOG having learned to Trust and Respect the Human.

We do NOT, in general, use treats to modify un-wanted behavior, or "bribe" to "coerce" wanted behavior; except in some rare situations.

  • An example would be, to distract the DOG from some situation the DOG is afraid of;
    and once the DOG has over-come the situation and "realizes" nothing "bad" happened;
    further modification continues without treats to "seal" the DOG's positive experience and reinforce wanted behavior.  ex: to "invite" the DOG into a car, a strange room (place), etc.

We NEVER use "spike" or "prong" or "pinch" collars.

An Electronic or "E" Remote (operator) Controlled Collar - in "Vibration" mode might be used on a DOG that often "runs loose", as on a farm.  In extreme cases this is serious and will save the DOG's life.

A short, quick (very mild) "shock" or "nick" mode might be used on a DOG that does not respond to the "Vibration" mode.

Vibrates - like a cell phone - mild to more intense.
Shocks  - like a static electric discharge (dragging your feet on carpet then touch someone).

These "special" collars are ONLY used for "correction" NEVER "punishment".

DOGs don't understand "punishment", they don't "get-it",
because DOGs live "in the moment", "in the present"; NOT "in the past" or "in the future".

DOGs have a whole range of emotions but don't anticipate or get exctied about a future event.
DOGs only react to a current situation or stimulation.

DOGs are not able to understand a "future punishment" for a "past behavior".
ex: prison, resentment, their own death, etc.

So We "correct" un-wanted, un-healthy, behavior  - NEVER "punish".

THIS is another example of   "DOG psychology" vs. "Human psychology".

     Try to forget EVERYTHING You know about "Human psychology" when relating to a DOG;
          then you will be in a better position to communicate with any DOG.

"Stay ahead of YOUR pack"
